- Idaho Medicaid Expansion Protection talking points:
- In 2018, Idaho voters passed Medicaid expansion with 60% of the vote, sending a strong message that Idahoans wanted to see increased access to health care for their friends and neighbors.
- Expansion offers coverage to individuals earning up to $20,000 per year, and families of 4 earning up to $41,000 per year – working Idahoans who earn too much to qualify for traditional Medicaid, or too little to get financial help to purchase private insurance.
- Increasing Medicaid eligibility means more Idahoans now have access to comprehensive coverage, including cancer screenings, diagnostic testing, treatment services and follow-up care.
- Idaho legislators tried to override the will of the voters on health coverage expansion during the 2019 legislative session and it is important that we send a strong message that voters and constituents still overwhelmingly support Medicaid expansion and that the program has given a hand up to thousands of hard-working Idahoans in times of need.
